Kipchumba Murkomen Exposed After Screenshot of This Post

Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen on Friday was exposed following his statement on the appointment of former Inspector General David Kimaiyo as the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) board chairman.

The Senate Majority leader took to social media congratulating the former police boss.

He noted: "Congratulations to my former Competitor Rtd.IG David Kimaiyo on your appointment to Chair  Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) Board. I wish you Godspeed as you serve."

However, a hawk-eyed Kenyan noticed a message the Senator had posted addressed to the former IG in 2016.

The screenshot which was posted online showed how Murkomen lashed out at Rtd. Kimaiyo after he announced his plan to unseat him from the senatorial position.

Murkomen then highlighted: "Kimaiyo says he wants to run for Senate because I sacked him from office as IG. Fair enough. Why can’t he tell the nation why he was also sacked from Airport 17 months later?"

At the time, Murkomen questioned Kimaiyo's credibility and ability to represent the county in the Senate claiming that his past records were unimpressive.

"Why can’t he tell the nation why after his departure the security of the nation has improved under Boinnet? Verily verily I say unto you Elgeyo Marakwet County will not be under sieke (siege). At least not under my watch!” noted Murkomen in a Facebook post.

The post later sparked a back-and-forth confrontation between the two leaders.

Kimaiyo also exclaimed that Murkomen could not allege that he had become conversant with Kenyan politics.

"How can somebody say I am incompetent yet I have served for over three decades diligently without integrity issues?” wondered Kimaiyo.
