Deputy President William Ruto on Saturday told off politicians who were pushing for constitutional amendments to create more political positions to accommodate Raila Odinga's team in government.
Speaking during the thanksgiving ceremony of Bureti MP Japhet Kiptergech, Kapkatet, Kericho County, the DP advised the MPs to instead focus on developing the country.
"We are not going to change the constitution so that politicians can get positions.
“Our priority is to serve millions of Kenyans, not to engage in an exercise that will only satisfy the needs of greedy politicians.

"We are focusing our energy on bettering lives of the people and realising equitable development, through the Big Four. The clamor for power and jostling for positions is short-sighted and meant to benefit a few at expense of wananchi, whose immediate need is service delivery," he conveyed.
He stated that the move to change the constitution would only benefit a few politicians at the expense of Kenyans.
The DP added that the prolonged electioneering period had negatively affected the country's economy and that it would be unfair to engage Kenyans in another political battle.
“We are ready to unite with all leaders for the sake of development so that we can serve the people who elected us well," he assured.
His sentiments were echoed by Rift Valley MPs who were present adding that a conducive environment was essential for development to take root.
The politicians welcomed the recent meeting between Raila and former president Daniel Moi.
They, however, maintained that their support for Ruto in 2022 was assured and they would only produce one candidate for the presidential race.
