Gov Kivutha Kibwana Hints at Leaving Wiper Party

Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana on Monday threatened to ditch Kalonzo Musyoka's party over what he termed as internal differences that were jeopardising Kamba unity.

Speaking at a church event in Makindu over the weekend, the Governor who is also Wiper chairman called on the NASA principal to straighten out the party's affairs stating that if left unresolved they would be a stumbling block to Kalonzo's 2022 presidential bid.

“I will meet Kalonzo and ask him why some people are not respecting us. Since we are seen as foreigners, let Kalonzo find another person for my position. I will, however, assist the Kamba community where possible," he stated.

He lamented how some Wiper party members treated him and other party leaders like outsiders: “I’m tired of Wiper-nominated MCAs who feel they are the owners of Wiper and call me a thief. They think that by doing this, they are supporting Kalonzo. That is destruction.”

"Wavinya Ndeti and I left our parties to strengthen Wiper. Charity Ngilu also brought her force to the party so as to have strong bargaining power for leadership positions with other communities," he added.

His sentiments come days after supporters of Governor Charity Ngilu and Mwingi Central Member of Parliament (MP) Gideon Mulyungi clashed.

The incident was an escalation of an already frosty relationship between the two politicians from Kitui.

Mulyungi had previously warned Ngilu after the latter held an event at his constituency without informing him.

Earlier Kalonzo rebranded the Wiper party to form a new party - One Kenya Movement (OKM).

Speaking during a meeting of Ukambani leaders in Matungulu constituency, Kalonzo affirmed that he would be the 5th Kenyan President.
