Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has advised Deputy President William Ruto to join forces with fellow leaders from humble backgrounds.
He suggested that the DP should join hands with him, and Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula given that they were brought up by poor parents.
"Ruto chanuka. Wewe ni mtoto wa mama alikua anauza busaa na wewe mwenyewe ulikua unauza kuku (Ruto you need to be smart. You are the son of a woman who used to sell traditional brew and you worked in the chicken sales business).

"Mimi ni mtoto wa chang'aa brewer na Wetangula ni mtoto ya mama alikua anauza busaa (I am the son of a woman who used to make the illicit brew while Wetangula's mother used to sell traditional brew too)," he advised.
Khalwale further opined that the DP should join hands with Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi and Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
In his view, such an alliance cannot be easily defeated even by a team led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga.
The sentiments add to a growing list of thoughts and opinions on Ruto's fate following the handshake between Uhuru and Raila.
Following the handshake, different leaders have raised eyebrows on the possible influence of the handshake in the 2022 succession politics.
Some sections of leaders saw Raila's meeting with former President Daniel Moi as a likely indicator of attempts to block the DP from Statehouse.

On his part, Ruto been clear of the debate indicating that Uhuru's Big Four Agenda and serving the citizenry remain a priority.
