A traffic police officer was on Thursday killed by a speeding bus at a roadblock that had been set up on the Mombasa-Nairobi highway.
The police officers had set up the roadblock at Ndara area in Voi when the bus driver ran over the officer.
The driver of the speeding bus was arrested following the incident and taken to an undisclosed police station.
Details of the victim and further action against the bus driver were yet to be released by the National Police Service (NPS) at the time of going to press.

In an unrelated incident, prime suspects were on Thursday charged in court with the murder of Corporal Martin Korir who was shot dead along the Thika Superhighway.
Ex-police officer Wycliffe Motanya and matatu tout John Lenda were arraigned on robbery with violence charges in the matter.
The two were allegedly involved in a robbery incident onboard a Kenya Mpya bus which Officer Korir boarded with his two Recce Squad companions, Constables Anthony Langat and Kelvin Ng'etich.
The suspects are believed to have stabbed the officer and shot him twice before stealing his firearm, a Jericho pistol.
In Embu, the probe into a 2017 murder of a GSU officer's girlfriend and her son uncovered a shallow grave with bones near the officer's home.
Pathologist Dr Amritpal Kalsi, however, hesitated to confirm that the bones were those of the deceased persons before proper tests were conducted.
