Raila Odinga's New Job in UK

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has left the country for a one-week visit to the United Kingdom where he will be giving lectures.

Odinga, who is a guest of Cambridge Union and Oxford Union, is expected to deliver lectures at Cambridge University and Oxford University on Tuesday and Thursday.

He will hold a meeting with UK Minister for Africa at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office on Wednesday his office noted.

On Friday the opposition leader will meet with Kenyans in the UK on at the Greenwood Lecture Theatres of King’s College, London.

However, it is not clear what the agenda of the meeting with Kenyans will be but reports indicate the Odinga will explain in detail on politics revolving around his handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The building bridges initiative, the idea coined by Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta after their March 9 handshake, is also expected to feature on the agenda.

The initiative is being handled by a 14-member team of advisers appointed by Uhuru and Raila.

Notably, the committee is expected to come up with recommendations, which will prepare Kenyans for a third referendum to create new structures in line with its broad mandate of unifying the country.

In October 2017, the former Prime Minister visited the UK where he addressed a public forum at Chatham House, Royal Institute of International Affairs - an independent policy institute based in London.

During the visit, Odinga met the Minister for Africa, Rory Stewart, who expressed the government's regrets with the former Prime Minister's withdrawal from the Presidential race.
