Beatrice Elachi Urges Jubilee Leaders to Unite After Miguna Miguna's Nomination

Nairobi County Assembly speaker Beatrice Elachi has told Jubilee leaders in Nairobi led by Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko to unite and speak in one voice for the purposes of development.

Speaking to the media, Elachi expressed her worries that the county may collapse if the ongoing political battles directed at City Hall will persist.

"There is a need for the leaders in Jubilee to come together and speak with one voice on how they want the county to be managed. This wrangling won’t help anyone," exclaimed Elachi.

Her comments come in the wake of Jubilee MCAs, who are the majority in the county, vowing to reject Miguna's nomination once his name is presented before the floor of the house.

According to the leader of Majority Abdi Guyo, they can not allow Miguna to deputise the County boss since he is not a Jubilee party member.

Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja on Thursday through a tweet dismissed Miguna's nomination.

"Miguna will not become the Deputy Governor of Nairobi. Take that to the bank,' Sakaja declared.

In an interview with the Standard, Jubilee Party Vice Chairman David Murathe accused Governor Sonko of failing the Party's manifesto for not delivering services to the people, hence the plans to impeach him.

Murathe further noted that Sonko nominated Miguna as a way of distracting people from focusing on his failures as the County boss.

The Jubilee Party Vice Chair also stated: "Sonko is forestalling his impeachment which has nothing to do with the DG's position but his administration's dismal performance. He is covering up mistakes by trying to divert attention. His nomination of Miguna is of no significance.

"The impeachment will proceed and it had to do with failures to deliver services to the people as was pledged by the party during campaigns. He can throw tantrums but they will have no consequences. We want action not talking lies," Murathe further declared.
