Uhuru Asked to Deal With NYS Culprits

Kibra Member of Parliament Ken Okoth on Thursday wrote a passionate message to President Uhuru Kenyatta urging him to act fast on the NYS scandal.

The legislator stated that youth were becoming desperate and the latest scandal would taint his tenure.

"President @UKenyatta this wave of looting under your leadership if not stopped will forever tarnish your legacy.

"The youth are hopeless and desperate; please stop the stealing and restore hope and opportunity for the youth across Kenya," he wrote.

This comes after it emerged that a 30-year-old woman was paid Ksh60 Million in the scam to supply goods to NYS.

Appearing for questioning at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters, Anne Wambere Wanjiku Ngirita revealed that she does not know how to submit a tender but was given a Ksh60 million LPO by NYS.

Investigations later revealed that she operates Annwaw Investment, Ann Wambere and Ann Wambere Wanjiku Investments.

According to NYS records, she was supposed to supply foodstuff, stationary, hammers and firewood.

The woman allegedly walked to the NYS offices in Gilgil where she requested a procurement officer to allow her to supply the goods.

Another firm was paid Ksh100,000 per towel for supplying 200 towels in the same scandal.

Rarieda Member of Parliament (MP) Otiende Amollo revealed major loopholes in the ongoing investigations noting something was amiss.

According to the lawmaker, how government officials have handled the investigations of the alleged Ksh9 billion scandal is questionable.

Posting on his Twitter, the lawyer noted: "The NYS Saga... I sense something amiss! If it’s corruption, why would DCI investigate to the exclusion of EACC and talk of Prosecution within 36 hours usurping the DPP’s role?
