Msambweni MP Suleiman Dori Resigns as ODM Deputy National Organising Secretary

Msambweni legislator Suleiman Dori has resigned as ODM deputy national organising secretary.

The coast MP stated that his decision to quit from the position was influenced by his desire to have more time to serve his constituents.

In his resignation letter, he assured that he would remain loyal to the party leader Raila Odinga and Kwale ODM vice chairman Nicholas Zani.

He had held the position since 2014.

Earlier on Sunday during the World Environment Day event in Kwale, Dori declared that he supported the DP’s candidature.

He maintained he will support Ruto “as he was the only one with the capacity to address issues affecting the Coastal people and bring them development.”

In the event, Kilifi North MP Owen Baya noted that ODM’s resolutions cannot supersede the constitution which gives every Kenyan the right of expression.

On Wednesday, in a statement signed by his spokesperson Dennis Onyango, Raila stated that his members were free to align themselves how they saw fit up to a time the party would reign them back in for the next election cycle.

"ODM is therefore not on the campaign trail for 2022 and is not threatened those who have started campaigns. The party will also not gag its members in their manoeuvres.

"However, when the legally stipulated campaign period comes, ODM will whip all its members and rally them behind its candidate," the statement read in part.
