President Uhuru's Lifestyle Audit Directive Unites Kenyans Against Government Leaders

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Thursday directed that all public officials should be subjected going forward in a spirited fight against corruption.

Speaking after commissioning the Miritini-Mwache-Kipevu link road at Miritini, Mombasa County, a tough-talking Uhuru swore that going forward, looting of public resources must come to an end at all cost.

"Na hii tabia ya watu kuiba mali ya Wakenya haki ya Mungu itaisha katika Taifa la Kenya (In the name of God, this habit of people fleecing public coffers must come to an end)."

The Head of State indicated that he will be the first to undergo a lifestyle audit then Deputy President William Ruto will follow suit followed by other government officials.

His call, however, seems to have reenergized the resolution of the citizens to fight the vice collectively.

This has seen tweeps unitedly take to Twitter waging a spirited war by exposing corrupt government officials and conducting a lifestyle audit under the tag #WeKnowYourSalary.

The naming and shaming initiative is directed towards exposing public officials whose assets and properties show great disparity compared to their net salaries.

#WeKnowYourSalary Kenya is the only other country where people who sell no product or services are more wealthy than entrepreneurs.

On his part, Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi supported the drive proposing that the public steered lifestyle audit needs proper planning.

In his opinion, five teams should be created to underatake the #WeKnowYourSalary initiative to fruition.

"One team should audits the executive arms/ministries, the second one audits parliament/ Senate, third goes after the judges/Judiciary and the fourth audits governors/ and the 47 devolved units while the last team goes after constitutional commissions," he concluded.

The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union (KMPDU) Secretary-General Ouma Oluga noted that: "In deed Kenyans hate politicians perceived to be poor but let the Kenyans also realise that the politicians have been faking it until they make it through corruption."

Oluga opined that after the lifestyle audit, the citizens may contend with leaders and politicians without money but ideas to change their lives.

We are not interested in anyone's salary, we are interested with billions stolen from us, some politicians became rich in few years & we are here struggling around since independence. @Asamoh_@HomabayMoha @MuktarKinow @Machukah @WanjikuRevolt @han_hajji #WeKnowYourSalary
