The injured were rushed to Naivasha Sub-County Hospital and a senior officer from the Prison at the scene of the incident said they had launched their own investigations after reports emerged that the driver was allegedly drunk at the time of the accident.

This comes just hours after seven people including students were involved in a gruesome road accident along the Embu-Meru highway on Friday morning.

Two matatus are reported to have crashed and rolled several times at the Gikuurii Trading Center.

According to witnesses, one of the vehicles rammed into the other from behind after its breaks failed.

Elsewhere on Thursday, over 50 students and their teachers narrowly escaped death after a bus they were traveling in was involved in an accident along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

According to reports, three teachers and one student from Starshine Blue School in Kiambu were seriously injured during the mid-morning accident in Raini trading center, near Naivasha.

The accident happened after the bus, which was destined for Nakuru National Park, developed mechanical problems and veered off the road landing on its side.

There were conflicting reports over the cause of the accident as some students accused the driver of speeding and overtaking carelessly.
