Senator Reveals Details of Anti-Ruto Calls Received Before His Events

Members of Parliament (MPs) affiliated to the Jubilee party have revealed that a powerful leader within the ruling party is spear-heading an anti-deputy president William Ruto campaign.

Without mentioning names, a senator who refused to be named revealed that the internal saboteur has been calling the politicians asking them not to attend DP Ruto's events even when invited.

The senator said to be from the Mt Kenya region told Sunday Nation that he had already received a call concerning an event set to be hosted by former presidential candidate Peter Kenneth in Eldoret today.

"On Sunday, Peter Kenneth has invited me for a rally he is doing with Oscar Sudi (Kapseret MP) in Eldoret.

"There is a camp fighting Ruto. So it is telling us we should not set foot in Eldoret on Sunday," he stated in a text message.

The DP has, in the past, denied claims of opposition against him within Jubilee party. He, however, on Friday changed his assertion during an event in Githunguri, Kiambu County.

"There's an attempt to try and undermine the track record of Jubilee.

"Therefore, to those peddling propaganda, let them continue but we will meet them on judgement day (2022 elections) and the electorate will decide who is a performer and who is a propagandist," he stated.

The report further outlines that a move to suspend campaigns for the region's preferred 2022 candidate by the Kikuyu Council of Elders (KCE) has served to further widen the rift within the party.

"It is no longer tenable to go round the country talking about one presidential candidate while others are still (waiting) in the wings," explained KCE Secretary-General Rev. Peter Munga.
