Warning Over Trader Selling Cat Meat Samosas in Nakuru

Nakuru residents are on high alert after a man admitted to selling cat meat samosas to them for the last six years.

James Mukangi admitted to making a living from selling cat meat samosas to unsuspecting residents and making over Ksh 500,000 through his business.

The 34-year-old man, after being busted skinning a cat for his business confessed: "I have ready clients who I have been selling the cat meat to for close to eight years."

The suspect told journalists: “I began this business in 2012 after I saw there was a need for the meat by samosa sellers. I tell my clients that I get the meat from Gioto (a popular dump site) but they do not know it is cat meat.”

Mukangi was caught red-handed in an open field along the railway lines outside Nakuru town and out of fear of being lynched, admitted he had always prepared his samosas with the meat.

"There's always a high demand of the cat meat but I have always failed to meet it due to lack of cats in my area. For the close to eight years, I have skinned over 1100 cats," the cat meat samosa trader narrated.

"It was hard when I started the business but my clientele has grown," Mukangi told Nakuru residents who listened in disbelief.

When he was caught on Sunday, he had already cut off the neck of a cat and was in the process of removing the skin.

Police Officers from Ukulima Police post rescued him from the angry crowd and he will be arraigned in court on Monday.
