Kenya's Trending Topics on June 29, 2018

Kenyans were on Friday engaged in various heated discussions following the top trending topics of the day.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen became a subject of discussion after he claimed that three top state officials were behind a plan to sabotage deputy president William Ruto's 2022 presidential ambitions.

Murkomen would, later on, post a picture of himself with President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House where the president was signing into law the Appropriation Bill 2018.

The photo earned the senator backlash from his followers. Here are some of the comments that were shared on the topic "Appropriation Bill 2018".

Consolidated Fund

The topic also trended on Twitter as members of the press shared the news that President Kenyatta had released all monies collected by the government back to the ministries and counties.

A number of commentators seemed cynical about the move alleging that the president had opened a can of worms and as such more government funds would be embezzled.

Thika Road

The topic trended after the identity of a man who was shot dead along the large highway was positively established.

He was said to have been a police informant. His Mercedes Benz was sprayed with bullets leading to his death.
