Willis Raburu Resigns From Citizen TV, Set to Join NTV

Citizen TV news anchor and host of 10 over 10 Willis Raburu is reported to have handed in his resignation letter to Royal Media Services.

Reports alleged that Raburu will be heading to Nation Media Group after a mass exodus of some of the media house top news anchors.

Raburu who has worked for Royal Media Services for close to eight years was not only a news anchor but had his own radio show at Hot 96 which is owned by RMS.

Many a time he has been compared to BBC editor Larry Madowo who worked at NMG and had his own TV show, The Trend and hosted a Saturday radio show on Nation FM as well as a columnist with the Daily Nation.

RMS has formed a strong Swahili news desk after hiring Jamilla MohamedRashid Abdalla and Nimrod Taabu from the Nation Media Group who joined Lulu Hassan, Mwanahamisi Hamadi and Swaleh Mdoe.

Notably, the media circles have been abuzz with reports alleging that Royal Media Services will also be launching a new 24-hour news station which will compete with Standard Media's KTN News.

Speaking to a local news outlet, Swaleh confirmed his move to NTV and refuted allegations that his resignation was out of misconduct as reported.

Swaleh stated: Yes, it is true I left Citizen TV a week ago. I resigned for personal reasons not because of what I am reading online. My salary and the little I get from my businesses is enough money for me. I am a professional journalist who has worked with international media entities.”
