DP William Ruto Ready to Support Different Jubilee Presidential Candidate in 2022

Deputy President William Ruto has revealed what would stop him from being on the presidential ballot in 2022.

Speaking at his Karen home, Ruto ruled out being Jubilee Party’s obvious presidential candidate in the 2022 General Election.

Ruto, during the interview with NTV on Sunday night, dismissed the political class who perceived him as an automatic presidential candidate for the ruling party.

He observed that he would support any other person chosen to contest on the Jubilee party ticket to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

DP Ruto noted that in case he fails to be selected as the flagbearer, he will not depart from Jubilee but will support the chosen candidate.

“In 2022 I will present myself, if Jubilee gives me or I am elected the Jubilee party candidate, I will run as a Jubilee member. Uhuru Kenyatta being the party leader, I am sure, confident and can put it in writing that Uhuru Kenyatta will support whoever Jubilee nominates in 2022,” stated DP Ruto.

He held that it is only after he has been nominated as the sole presidential candidate for the party that he would confidently expect the blessings to run for the top seat.

He added that his numerous trips across the country were as a result of his desire to work hard as it would determine his scorecard when he presents himself to the country as a presidential candidate.

“People have seen me since I was Minister for Agriculture, as Minister for Higher Education and now as Deputy President. That is the record I would want to be judged by. That is why today I work hard, I go places because I know it will count,” observed Ruto.

While the trips have caused the uproar over what politicians have seen as a campaigning for the 2022 presidential poll, he notes nothing unusual.

“What I am doing now is what I have always done as Deputy President since 2013. If you count the number of visits I made to the coast in 2013, they are as numerous as the ones I am doing today. Nothing has changed,” he debunked during the interview as he considered they were part of his job description.

He further heeded that the President was clear on the trips he made as he was aware it is what he had been doing throughout their time in power.
