Deputy President William Ruto Camps at Jubilee Party Headquarters to Avert Further Nomination Chaos

Jubilee Party Headquarters was on Monday a beehive of activity after the top brass of the party led by Deputy President William Ruto camped at the offices.

According to sources, DP Ruto camped at the Jubilee Party headquarters to monitor the nominations to avoid a repeat of last Friday’s shambolic exercise.

It is reported that Ruto took the administrative reigns of the party on instructions of President Uhuru Kenyatta to clear the mess that had threatened to derail Jubilee’s nominations.

Ruto reportedly spent the whole day at the JP offices in Pangani from 11 am to ensure nominations in five counties of Bomet, Nandi, Baringo, Elgeyo Marakwet and Kirinyaga ran smoothly.

The DP took over leadership of the primaries on Saturday after chaos led to the cancellation of the exercise. A point confirmed by Jubilee Party Secretary General Raphael Tuju and the National Elections Board chairman Andrew Musangi who noted that the DP was at the HQ for consultation.

Tuju highlighted that proper measures, such as timely transportation of election materials to polling stations, had been improved and there were limited hitches as compared to Friday’s cancelled polls.

He had on Friday announced that the exercise would be repeated and expressed regret that the exercise had been marred by chaos over logistical challenges and lack of enough voting material.

The chaotic scenes in the primaries forced the party to cancel the exercise in over 17 counties after aspirants and supporters expressed discord with the party’s preparedness.
