Presenter Jalang'o Speaks on How He Landed Deal to Emcee for President Obama

Felix Oduor popularly known as Jalang'o has excitedly narrated how he landed the deal to emcee during the launch of Sauti Kuu Foundation which included introducing President Barack Obama.

Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV's Wahiga Mwaura, Jalang'o revealed that upon hearing about Obama's coming to the country, he jokingly mentioned to his Hot 96 breakfast show co-host Jeff Koinange that he would be the emcee during the event.

He went ahead to explain that during the show, he stated a step by step process of how he would introduce Obama if accorded the honour.

As fate would have it, the PR team tasked to manage the whole event led by Gina Din Kariuki reached out to him revealing that he had been picked to emcee the launch.

"Lorna Irungu called me and said, 'Do you know some dreams come true?' I then asked her what dreams?.... She then told me that you will be emceeing for Obama," Jalang'o revealed.

This was after the team had watched his show expressing his interest to emcee for Obama in a clip that they (Hot 96) posted on YouTube.

The celebrated comedian went on to assert: " Everything we say is very powerful. You never know who is watching or listening."

He then divulged that he had to go through a rigorous process in preparation for the event.

"We had to go through several meetings with the Secret Service. You can't just wake up one morning and emcee for Obama," Jalang'o jokingly affirmed.

He also disclosed that upon inviting the President on the stage, Obama lauded him for his job.

"After we shook hands, he told me good job," the presenter told Wahiga.

President Obama was in the country to launch his half-sister Auma Obama's Sauti Kuu Foundation at Kogelo village, Siaya County on Monday.
