Raila Meets Eva Msando as Slain IEBC Manager Anniversary Nears

National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday met Eva Msando, the wife of slain Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) ICT manager Chris Msando at his Capitol Hill office.

Accompanied by Suna East MP Junet Mohammed and Ugunja lawmaker Opiyo Wandayi, discussions were held on the upcoming one-year anniversary of Msando's death.

Msando's mutilated body was found on July 31, 2017 at a forest in Kikuyu on the outskirts of Nairobi.

Wandayi took to social media to reveal that they had consulted Raila on the upcoming anniversary even as he expressed respect for Msando's legacy.

"In the run-up to the first anniversary of Comrade Chris Msando's demise, we've today held consultation with H.E. Raila Odinga, Hon. Junet Mohammed and Mrs. Eva Msando. We continue to pay tribute to Chris' enduring heroism," he stated.

The news of Msando's murder shook the nation as it came just a week to the hotly contested 2017 General Election.

“He died from strangulation and he also had incisions on his right arm, but the rest of the body was intact,” Chief Government Pathologist Johanssen Oduor stated.

At the time, the Raila-led NASA coalition accused the Jubilee Party of masterminding the murder in a bid to weaken the electronic systems to be used by IEBC in the transmission of election results.

Investigations into the brutal killing have never been concluded.

In March, Eva had appealed for support in the form of employment to help her take care of her children, stating that she had been abandoned by the IEBC since her husband's demise.

"I don't want to submit myself to another man in order to feed my children. I will appreciate any decent job that will enable me cater for my family," she wrote in a letter to Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o.
