Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen has broken his silence after Siaya Senator James Orengo publicly mocked his father.
Murkomen, who has been drawn to the center of the debate on the Mau Forest evictions, on Thursday bowed out of the argument stating that Senator Orengo is old enough as his father.
In a statement seen by Kenyans.co.ke, Murkomen in an unusual low-spirited response shunned confrontation with Senator Orengo over the remarks.

“Senator Orengo is slightly older than my dad. Orengo was elected to parliament in 1979, the year I was born. A debate of who gave birth to what kind of a child can only be between him and my dad,” subdued Murkomen.
Senator Orengo had fired shots at the senator over the evictions in Mau, mocking his biological father for having brought forth a foolish son (Murkomen)
“Kama kuna mzee alizaa mtoto ambaye ako na hali ya upumbavu, ni Murkomen mmoja wa vijana kama hao (If there's is a man who sired a foolish son, then Murkomen is one of them)," stated Orengo.
Orengo made the remarks castigating the Elgeyo Marakwet Senator for linking ODM leader Raila Odinga to the Mau evictions.
In his rejoinder, Murkomen held: “I would like to respect Orengo’s children and their achievements even though I don’t know them.”

Netizens appealed to Murkomen to extend the evidently withdrawn response to Mr Odinga, demanding Raila equally deserved respect given he is considerably older than the Senator’s father.
Earlier on Wednesday night, Murkomen refuted claims that he had changed tune on the ongoing eviction of families from Mau forest.
He noted there was no reason as to why he would soften his stand at a time the government was flushing out families from the area.
