Deputy President William Ruto on Monday recommended amendments to the regulation that requires a minimum of 100 women to form a group to get loans from government initiatives.
Speaking in Kasarani Stadium, during the presentation of cheques worth Kshs.112.5 million to women and youth groups in Nairobi County, the DP asked the Ministry of Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs to work with Parliament in amending that regulation to allow more women to be funded.
He gave an ultimatum of two months, a move that is likely to incentivise the formation of more women groups in the country.
Unlike the youth who only require 25 members, the regulations demand that 100 women do to be recognized.

The DP explained that by congregating in groups, women and youths stand to benefit from synergies.
He further disclosed that the Government had prioritised empowerment of women and youth through the affirmative action funds to provide financial support and increase opportunities for these groups.
"A total of Kshs. 31 Billion has been disbursed to small and medium-sized enterprises, benefiting 15 Million people," he stated.
At the same time, Mr Ruto asked Parliament to review its decision to slash funds meant for the National Youth Service.
DP Ruto further stated that he was pleased with the progress of renovating Kasarani Stadium, including indoor facilities, pitch, track, timing systems and drainage to meet international standards.
"The works are in readiness to host high profile events, such as the World U20 Athletics Championships. Management must find sustainable, effective ways to maintain the stadium instead of always relying on government intervention," he added.
