MP Involved in Near Gun Fight With Sudanese PS

Six parliamentarians and a former MP legislator were involved in a near gun battle with a PS in an upscale bar in Kilimani.

The legislators were having a drink at Cedars bar on Lenana Road when one of them picked a quarrel with a Sudanese man.

The Sudanese national is claimed to be a PS in Salva Kiir’s government.

The MPs; Sam Atandi (Alego Usonga), Teddy Mwambire (Ganze), Oscar Sudi (Kapsaret), Ayub Savula (Lugari), Didmus Barasa (Kimilili) and former Tiaty MP Asman Kamama were enjoying a drink when the Sudanese seated next to them began smoking and the cigarette smoke wafted towards them.

This action provoked a reaction from Sudi and Barasa who protested and threatened to attack him.

“When Atandi protested, the Sudanese grabbed a glass of beer and splashed it on the MPs,” Savula told the Star.

This prompted the MPs’ chaperons to step in.

Unconfirmed reports indicated that three of the legislators brandished their guns when things started getting out of control.

“A group of other people associated with the man walked in and caused a commotion as they tried at rescue him.

“Our bodyguards dealt with them appropriately and removed them from the bar so we continued with our discussions,” Barasa noted.

“We did not know they were mobilising outside and so within minutes the police arrived to find out what was happening. We explained to them who we are and what happened and they decided to leave,” Savula remarked.

Some employees at the facility describe the Sudanese as an arrogant wealthy man who has neither regard nor respect for anyone.

It is not clear if the ordeal was reported to the nearby Kilimani Police Station.
