Motorists using Mombasa Road were on Friday caught in heavy traffic following an accident involving two trucks.
The trailers reportedly collided at the U-turn section of the road near the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) causing a major snarl up for the better part of the morning.
A number of motorists decried having spent close to two hours on the road trying to access the airport as the area was rendered nearly impassable.
Heavy traffic caught motorists from General Motors area all the way through City Cabanas while some complained the road had turned into a parking lot from Nyayo towards Syokimau.
"I left my house at 9.30 AM heading to Kitengela. I usually take 30 minutes from Imara Daima to Kitengela but today it is more than an hour now but I am still at Imara. Has Mombasa Road been closed for renovation or what is happening today? " wondered motorists in an online post.
Earlier on Friday, a container reportedly blocked a section of the road near Airtel center just a few hours before the accident reported near the airport.
The turn near the airport area has been a notorious spot with numerous incidents of vehicles and trucks rolling over.
Early last month, an ODM legislator's car rolled over at the same spot escaping unhurt.
On Thursday, there was a similar situation on the road as motorists experienced visibility challenges.
