Betty Kyallo Says Goodbye to KTN as K24 Beckons

KTN News anchor Betty Kyallo has announced that Friday, 3rd August 2018 will be her last day at the station.

She took to social media to reveal that after eight years at the station, she would be presenting the final edition of her popular Friday night news show Friday Briefing.

Kyallo's confirmation comes following reports that she is set to join K24 which has been falling behind the pack in recent years.

"It has been an amazing 8 years at KTN, tonight I say goodbye with so Much Gratitude and Love to you. See you on #FridayBriefing @KTNNews," she tweeted.

Kyallo fell short of confirming that she would be joining the Mediamax-owned station which is expected to leverage Kyallo's popularity to drive up ratings.

As of the last Geopoll survey, it was ranked fifth having been overtaken by vernacular station Inooro TV.

The move is the latest in a series of high-profile exits from KTN in recent weeks.

Joe Ageyo, Yvonne Okwara and Mashirima Kapombe are among KTN journalists who moved to Royal Media Services (RMS)-owned Citizen TV.

The station has since launched a new line-up of news shows with fresh faces drawn from media houses that include Nation Media Group (NMG).

Zindzi Kibiku and Akisa Wandera are expected to be the News Hour personalities on KTN following Betty's exit.
