Raila Odinga Makes State House Pledge to Western Kenya Leaders

Elected leaders from Western Kenya are headed back to the drawing board following a secret meeting with Raila Odinga.

On Tuesday, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader met at least 17 parliamentarians from Western Kenya counties promising to lead them to State House.

According to sources privy to the meeting, Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya who declared that he will run for President in 2022 led the delegation to the meeting focusing on anticipated appointments to the cabinet.

It has also emerged that a number of leaders from the region were left out of the meeting with Raila.

Those who attended the meeting held in Nairobi revealed that they were only aware of a breakfast discussion with Governor Oparanya who doubles up as the ODM deputy party leader.

It is only after turning up for the breakfast that the MPs were informed that they were to meet the former Prime Minister in the company of some Jubilee and ANC party politicians.

Governor Oparanya had been tasked with coordinating the region's legislators but a number of them who are accused of leaning towards ANC's Musalia Mudavadi and Deputy President William Ruto did not turn up for the meeting.

According to The Standard, State House insiders have intimated that there is an upcoming Cabinet reshuffle that could see a number of dockets handed over to new appointees.

More to this is a move by the  National Intelligence Service, Director of Criminal Investigations, Anti-money Laundering Unit and Asset freezing Unit undertaking a secret lifestyle Audit on a number of Cabinet Secretaries.

The agencies are said to have secretly filed a report to the President ahead of the cabinet shake-up.

Others are Anti banking fraud unit, Financial Reporting Centre, Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Cyber-crime Unit and Anti-counterfeit body.
