Confusion as Waititu Builds Staircase on Hill [PHOTOS]

Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has caused confusion following a project to build a staircase on a hill instead of a paved road for all users in his county.

The staircase is located in karanji, Limuru East Ward where motorcycles, trawls, handcarts or even wheelbarrows are expected to use the public facility.

The project which is financed by the Kiambu County government is under the department of roads, transport, public works and utilities (RTPW&U).

After pictures of the staircase were posted on social media, netizens did not hold back in expressing their disappointment with one terming it as 'misplaced priorities.'

"A fairy tale about a foolish emperor," another quipped.

"Bruh! What have we done as a country to get such mediocre leadership!! We used to be leaders in the East and Central African regions on Africa!! Now See our lives," one Kenyan conveyed.

One user jumped to the defense of the county head explaining that the staircase was only an alternative to supplement the road.

"That path is only used by pedestrians as a shortcut. There's an alternative road... The staircase will ease the burden of climbing," the user stated.

The Governor who is no stranger to controversy has been under scrutiny over his plan to rehabilitate drunkards in the county.

Leaders in Kiambu has queried the money that is being used to pay alcoholics in the hope that they will quit drinking.

The project is allegedly gobbling up Ksh2 Million daily, with many doubting its sustainability, effectiveness, and transparency adding that it may end up being more harmful in the long run.
