Details of DP William Ruto’s Secret Night Meetings

Deputy President William Ruto has adopted a strategy of using daytime to advocate Jubilee’s Big Four Agenda and night time to recruit politicians into his camp, The Nation reported.

In the recent past, he has met leaders at night in Meru, Nyeri, Turkana and more such meetings are planned across the country.

According to the  Nation the meetings which usually happen on Sunday starting at 8 PM and last into the night, sometimes well past 1 PM.

The preferred attendees during these secret meetings are elected leaders, particularly members of county assemblies and MPs.

A recent press release indicated he held a meeting with county Speakers at his Karen office in Nairobi, the meeting is reported to have extended Ruto’s embrace to MCAs.

Without a think tank to review his strategy, the deputy president is using his point men across the country and his profound mobilization skills to deliver on his 2022 presidential bid.

Last week in Meru, Ruto held a late night meeting with local leaders after a daylong tour of the region.

The leaders supported his presidential bid on condition that he picks his running mate from the Meru community.

During his 3-hour indoor meeting in Nyeri, he told Mt Kenya leaders that President Uhuru Kenyatta will personally lead his 2022 campaigns.

In July he reportedly spent over 8 hours attending an invite-only wedding in Kisumu in the middle of the night.

His travel maintained a high level of confidentially that even Kisumu Deputy Governor Mathews Owili and Ruto's Press Secretary David Mugonyi were reportedly unaware of his attendance.
