Governor Anyang' Nyong'o Announces Plans to Adopt Washington D.C. City Plan

Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o has announced plans to model buildings in Kisumu county after the United States capital Washington D. C.

The governor outlined that the county is looking into the prospect of banning all buildings that rise above 10 storeys.

Prof. Nyong'o explained that the new city plan would help protect residents from adverse effects of natural catastrophes.

"We may adopt a policy that no house or apartment should be higher than 10 storeys in Kisumu. For good reasons, because the world is experiencing a lot of natural catastrophes.

"China is already regretting. It is reviewing its plans of high-rise apartments of 89 storeys and above," he noted.

He further explained that his administration would consult on the matter before implementing it, adding that some international companies had been contracted to begin the process of geophysical mapping and survey of the city.

"The contract was awarded last week. Two companies of international repute will do this so that we have a good plan and zoning for the city.

"Our feeling is that we should have a policy like Washington, DC and we shall consult the public on this," he stated.

The governor further warned that his government would soon kick off the process of recovering riparian land, much like his Nairobi counterpart Mike Sonko's recent demolition spree.

"We want to get rid of those who used fake titles to build thus denying others right to use their titles. The injustices must come to an end to restore investor confidence," he stated.
