Kitui Deputy Governor Wathe Nzau's Prado, Driver Mysteriously Disappear

Kitui Deputy Governor Wathe Nzau reported that both his driver and his vehicle, a Prado, have been missing since August 9.

Speaking to members of the press, DG Nzau conveyed that he has not seen the driver and his car since Thursday when he was dropped at the memorial service for 10 pupils who died in an accident in Mwingi.

The driver identified as Mr Antony Kang'oti is said to have vanished from the venue of the requiem mass without disclosing his whereabouts.

Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives were enlisted to conduct investigations into the disappearance of the official DG's car, a Land Cruiser Prado TX, Dark Grey in colour, registration number KBW 893V with a green number plate.

Transport CEC at the county confirmed that investigators have tracked the vehicle to Kiembeni Bamburi estate in Mombasa County.

Police on Monday managed to recover the missing Prado in Likoni, parked at a car wash area.

The county government driver was found in a nearby pub drunk and was arrested and taken to the Kiembeni Police Station for interrogation.

In other news, the driver to Likuyani Member of Parliament Enock Wamalwa Kibunguchy was killed on Sunday night after a shootout that occurred along the Eldoret-Kitale highway.

The MP managed to escape unhurt during the incident even as the gunmen took off in his vehicle.

MP Kibunguchy is well known for using public transport and his own car while making visits to his rural home, unlike his counterparts who often use choppers.
