Egesa FM presenter Attempted to Take Family's Lives Before Taking His Own

The family of popular radio comedian Joseph Mochere aka Okebiro O’Mose have now come to reveal that he had attempted to kill four family members before he took his own life.

A day before he took his own life, Mochere tried stabbing his wife and elder brother but they overpowered him without taking away the knife he was wielding.

“He was armed with a knife and had become wild as he threatened to kill anyone in the house,” Teresa Moraa, his widow informed.

Following the incident, his wife left for their rural Nyamira home accompanied by the two children with his elder brother leaving him as well and going back to his own house.

‘I would be preparing to bury five people in my compound had it not been for the intuition of his wife and his brother, who had gone to negotiate for peace in the family,” Mochere’s father Atandi Rabera was quoted.

The lead comedian at Egesa FM had had marital problems for the last four years owing to infidelity on his part,  as reported by his brother, since his rise in celebrity status.

Before he took his life, Mochere is said to have written a suicide note addressed to his wife stating she had blocked his calls and texts, which he took to mean was the termination of their marriage.

“I have been patient enough but you have been stressing me for nothing. Take those children and look for another father who is not immoral and who has never seduced any lady. Goodbye”

An episode he acted out on air with his stage wife Banchiri may have pointed out to his death.

In the drama enactment, he thinks of eliminating Banchiri and the children by lacing milk with poison but his wife becomes suspicious and dumps the poisoned milk.

Mochere becomes the second Egesa FM presenter to take his own life after William Tolbert jumped from a Nairobi building ten years ago due to love-related depression.
