Mystery as All Newspapers Go Missing in Migori County

An air of mystery lurks in Migori following reports of all newspapers in the county going missing for the past few days.

Locals have not been able to get news updates from their favourite publications alleging that unknown people have been buying all the newspapers by 6 AM.

The Nation reported that by Saturday morning all leading dailies were not available are various newsstands in Migori town.

A situation which was replicated in Rongo, Awendo, Isebania and Kehancha.

A newspaper vendor disclosed that;  "Three people come around and order all the newspapers. They pay for all of them and even give us tips. Given that all we need is to sell the papers we have no option."

Readers were left without a means of getting updated on the latest headlines.

"I am so disappointed that I could not get my favourite paper. I went to the news stands as early as 6 am. I could not even get the newspaper from the supermarkets," A Migori resident Mr Mark Sirwa was quoted by the Nation.

Some residents believed that the newspapers were bought to cover up information regarding Sharon Otieno's death.

"Whoever wants us to stay in the dark because of Sharon's (Otieno) murder should know that they will not succeed as we are already aware of the latest developments," Another resident, Bramwel Mwita disclosed.

Investigations into Sharon's death are still ongoing as postmortem results revealed that Sharon was strangled, stabbed eight times and possibly raped by her assailants.

On Friday, lawyer Ombeta confirmed to Kenyans.co.ke that he was representing the interest of Governor Obado during the post-mortem examination for Sharon.

"We are here to represent his interest as the post-mortem is about to be conducted then from there they will direct on the way forward," Ombetta stated.
