Sharon Otieno's ex-husband has emerged with the ongoing investigations on the murder of the mother of three.

Bernard Okuta, a high school teacher at Rapogi High School in Uriri Sub-county, Migori County,  spoke to journalists on Sunday clearly reeling from the loss.

“This matter is too emotive for me to comment. If I wanted to comment about it, I would have done so long ago. I would rather leave the matter to the police and other investigators to find out what happened. That is all I can say,”  he was quoted by the Nation.

Not willing to divulge much information, Okuta directed the media to refer to the statement released by the family spokesperson Joshua Okong’o.

“What the spokesperson of the family said about the family of the deceased is enough. I will not say anything. Please go and talk to the police for more information,” he stated.

According to sources, Bernard had separated from Sharon slightly more than a year ago having had three children together; a son and two daughters.

After the divorce, the deceased moved back to her parents home in Homa Bay.

“The two separated a few months after Sharon joined Rongo University. They separated due to marital problems and Sharon relocated to her parents’ home,” an anonymous source told the Nation.

Investigations are still underway as the family through Homa Bay Member of Parliament Peter Kaluma maintaining that no burial would take place until Ms Otieno’s assailants are apprehended.

Many have come out calling for a speedy investigation on the matter including former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Adding to the call for justice is Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo who on Monday expressed optimism that the case would be resolved having been moved to Nairobi.

"I am happy that they are moving Sharon’s issue to Nairobi- Usually when you leave some of these matters at the lower level then the chances of compromise becomes very high. The suspects should also be put in to witness protection," she conveyed during an interview on Citizen TV.
