The Committee probing bribery allegations at the National Assembly shall query Aden Duale among other MPs adversely mentioned in the investigations on Wednesday.
The Powers and Privileges committee was told the Majority leader was part of the lawmakers alleged to be behind a scheme to influence MPs to shoot out the report on illegal sugar imports.
Implicating the majority leader, Naivasha MP Jane Kihara mentioned Duale, Rahab Mukabi of Nyeri county and the Nakuru Town East MP David Gikaria as part of the leaders behind the money claimed to have been dished out in the house.
The committee demanded that the Nakuru MP substantiates her remarks that an MP from Nakuru County had approached her requiring that she rejects the report because those implicated were close to President Uhuru.
“He (Nakuru East MP) came to me told me that the majority leader (Duale) asked him to rally Nakuru county MPs to reject the report because those mentioned were the ‘president’s people’. I refused and insisted that the President did not elect me,” explained Ms Kihara.
She claimed that a colleague had warned her of a woman legislator from North Eastern who was dishing out money to influence the MPs position on the matter.
Matayos MP Geoffrey Odanga and his Kimilili counterpart Didmus Baraza named Woman Rep Fatuma Gedi and Kuresoi South MP Joseph Tunoi accusing them of bribing MPs.
Odanga told the committee that the Kuresoi South MP approached him to go pick kshs20, 000 that was being given to MPs at the new annex lounge.
“He came to me during lunchtime but I refused. He told me they were trying to save one of their own in the cabinet,” claimed Odanga.
Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa, on the other hand, singled out Woman Rep Gedi, who he confirmed attempted to bribe him with Sh10,000 in the plenary.
Barasa insisted that Ms Gedi handed her an envelope which he established had money.
"She handed me an envelope but I declined. She nearly roughed up Sirisia MP John Waluke when she tried the same. We were seated under one of the CCTV cameras in the House,” held Barasa.
Speaker Justine Muturi was chairing the inquiry committee.
