Four Die After Saloon Car Rams Into a Lorry in Kibirigwi Along Nyeri-Nairobi Highway

Four people succumbed to a fatal crash at Kibirigwi on Saturday after a collision with a lorry along the Nyeri Nairobi Highway.

According to Ndia OCPD Sicily Gatiti, the saloon car they were travelling in rammed into the back of the lorry.

The only survivor is currently receiving treatment at Jamii Hospital in Karatina.

It is believed that they were on their way to a dowry in Kitale.

This comes a day after two people died in an accident involving a Toyota Prado and a matatu along the same road.

According to Sagana OCPD Joseph Matiku, the two died on the spot. He stated that the injured were rushed to White Rose Hospital in Wanguru.

The police boss explained that the Prado, which was coming from Nairobi, tried to overtake before colliding head-on with the matatu.

The government has tried to implement measures to curb increase I road accidents that have claimed over 1800 lives in 2018 alone.

A statement signed by Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i warned that all matatus must comply with the "Michuki Rules" or risk being dealt with as per the law.

"Therefore, effective Monday, 12th November 2018, any PSV vehicle, drivers, SACCOs/Transport companies, passengers and other relevant parties that fail to comply with the provisions of the NTSA Act and the Traffic Act will be firmly dealt with in accordance with the law," the Notice added.
