KPLC Halts Postpaid Bills Through Posta for Banking Halls

Kenya Power Company on Friday suspended all postpaid bill payments carried out through the Postal Corporation of Kenya.

The parastatal further advised its customers to settle their bills through their banking halls or other modes such as mobile payment.

Taking to social media, the firm further directed that the suspension would stay in place until they issue a notice advising otherwise.

We wish to advise our esteemed customers that payment of postpaid electricity bill through the Postal Corporation of Kenya (POSTA) has been suspended until further notice,” stated KPLC.

Their official website, however, strongly recommended the mobile money option advising customers to follow instructions to the latter.

On Friday, November 23, KPLC issued a stern warning over late bill payment shortly after reporting a 60 per cent dip in its profits.

The company's acting CEO Jared Othieno stated that the entity would be tougher when chasing for late bill payments reducing the provisions for debt from 58 to 30 days.

The reason for the wide plunge had been, however, cited as a spike in provisions of debt.

In July 2018, the company faced a setback after the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) ordered for the arrest of its 14 bosses.

The company has more than 6.8 million customers connected to its grid with the number expected to rise as a result of the last mile project.
