The Kenya National Highways Authority on Tuesday warned members of the public over rampant fake online jobs purporting that it had vacancies.
Taking to social media, the authority warned the public against falling prey to two contacts registered under Boniface Mwashi Mineso.
They further explained that the con men often called or contacted their unsuspecting victims via social media where they proceeded to charge them a fee.
“Some unscrupulous persons are calling job seekers through social media and other online job platforms to ask for money claiming that they would assist them to secure positions in the Authority,” read the notice.
KeNHA further clarified that they had a clear recruitment procedure which included publishing vacancies in the mainstream media.
"We wish to clarify that KeNHA has a clear recruitment and procedure policy which includes publishing of vacancies in the mainstream media and on the authority's website," continued the report.
The notice also advised that the authority never solicited for money at any stages of the recruitment process.
The authority, therefore, called upon members of the public to ignore any such calls or random information on social media promising job opportunities at the authority.
"The authority does not solicit any money during recruitment as indicated in the fake calls to applicants,” the notice read.
Previously, the office of the Director of Public Prosecution had issued a warning over fake jobs advertised online promising internship at the agency while demanding money in return.
They had promised that the perpetrators would be punished.
