Ruto's Biggest Loss in 2018 - Mutahi Ngunyi

Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi has pointed out that Deputy President William Ruto's biggest loss in 2018.

Awarding the politicians an annual scorecard on his show, The 5th Estate, Mutahi noted how the political matrix and dynamics had shifted significantly over the last 12 months.

In particular, the political analyst notes how the DP lost power in the course of the year to opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Awarding Ruto a B+ (plus) for fighting dynasties against Raila's winning score of A+ (plus) for effort and A- (minus) for achievement, he notes: "We deny him an A because of allowing Raila to replace him as the second most powerful person in Kenya".

Nevertheless, Mutahi commended Ruto for his ability to put up a good fight as an underdog against the dynasties.

He equally awarded President Uhuru Kenyatta A (plain) for effort and D+ (plus) for achievement adding that he has excelled in several undertakings in 2018.

In particular, Mutahi notes that Uhuru stood out on several matters including demolition of illegal structures, "Kamata Kamata Fridays" that saw the arrest of high-profile Kenyans and the bold handshake with Raila.

On the political class wars, he awarded dynasties a grade A (plain) against the hustlers' grade E.

Noting how the commoners easily forget the atrocities meted upon them by the politicians, Mutahi added that it is always a win for the political dynasties.

Quoting Russian dictator Joseph Stalin, Mutahi noted: "You can dis-empower the people, brutalize them and torture them; but if you give them peanuts at that desperate situation, they will follow you blindly.

"That is how the dynasties have conditioned the people," Mutahi concluded in reference to the tactics employed by the elite ruling class.
