Uhuru's Promise That Has Caused MP Distress

Vocal Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri has revealed how a promise by President Uhuru Kenyatta to his constituents has caused him distress.

Speaking on NTV, the MP indicated that a road project in his Constituency and four dam projects were behind his recent slur against the Head of State.

"The is a road which was promised and tendered in Bahati Constituency. People are doing demonstrations against me and I don't do national roads, it is the national government.

"There was expansion of four dams in 2013 which the president came and said they would be done. That has not happened," Ngunjiri stated.

The MP accused the media of escalating his recent remarks indicating that he was speaking on his behalf and not for Mt Kenya region.

"You media are responsible for escalating this thing. What is wrong with me as an elected leader talking about my constituency," he added.

Despite a reprimand by Uhuru following his previous remarks, the MP maintained that he would continue advocating development for his electorate.

"I will talk for my constituency, and say that there is nothing that has been done by the national government in my constituency," he added.

However, former Education Assistant Minister Kilemi Mwiria, who was on the show, faulted the MPs who were blaming the president for underdevelopment in their regions.

"It is wrong to say the President decides the budget, that's why there is Parliament... Parliament has the opportunity to say this is not equitable, that some places are being favoured.

"All evidence points to the fact that since Kenyatta became president, and even going back to the days of Mwai Kibaki, there has been much more equitable distribution of resources than in the days of KANU," Mwiria added.
