MP David Gikaria Arrested Over Land Grabbing

Nakuru Town East Member of Parliament (MP) David Gikaria was on Monday afternoon arrested over alleged land grabbing.

Gikaria reportedly surrendered himself to Nakuru DCI after remaining elusive from police looking for him over his involvement in land scandals in Lanet.

Reports indicate that the MP was questioned and recorded statements with DCI officers in Nakuru.

Sources told Kenyans.co.ke that Gikaria allegedly grabbed a parcel of land from a resident in Lanet.

He allegedly later went ahead to start construction on the plot of land under question.

Police reports indicate that the Nakuru Town East legislator is set to be arraigned in Court to answer to the charges.

Gikaria is reportedly faced with eight counts of land fraud including one on the 2 acre plot of land where construction was ongoing at the time of the arrest.

Update: 5:20pm

The MP was released on a Ksh1 million bail after denying the charges.
