Police Intercept 152 Dummy Bombs at a Hardware Shop in Nanyuki

Police have intercepted 152 dummy bombs at a hardware shop in Nanyuki, Laikipia County.

It is still unclear how the dummy bombs were acquired and what purpose they were intended for.

The hardware shop owner, however, alleged that he had bought the dummy bombs to re-purpose for scrap metal.

The area has since been sealed off as a crime scene pending more investigations into the issue.

Reports also indicate that a bomb disposal squad has also been deployed to the scene.

This comes a week after an improvised explosive device (IED) went off outside Odeon Cinema in Nairobi's CBD.

It was reported that the suspected attacker had hired a cart to carry a small box from Latema Road to Kenya Cinema.

When they got to the Latema Road-Tom Mboya street junction, he informed the cart-pusher, who has been identified as Joseph Okinyi, that he had forgotten his identification card at an M-PESA shop and requested to go and pick it.

The box exploded as Okinyi waited for the owner to return.

DCI announced an intensive crackdown on all suspicious activities in relation to terrorism after the Dusit D2 terror attack that claimed 21 lives.

The crackdown has seen a number of suspects get arrested and arraigned in court.
