ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, on Wednesday, responded to Senator Kipchumba Murkomen's appeal over the party's decision to expel MPs Aisha Jumwa (Malindi) and Suleiman Dori (Msambweni).
In a fiercely written retort, Sifuna dismissed the petition arguing that there wasn't a mechanism to facilitate an appeal of the decision of the Party's NEC to the National Governing Council (NGC).
"The sections quoted in your letter on "appeals to the NGC" do not exist in the ODM party constitution," read part of the statement.
Sifuna faulted the ODM rebel MPs for their stances which were divergent of the party's political position.
"It is frankly embarrassing for your clients to claim to be 'champions of the values and aspirations of ODM' when they have no basic knowledge of the constitutive document of the party and is indicative of just how far they have drifted from the mothership.
"We strongly suggest that you and your client take time to familiarize yourselves with the constitution and rules governing ODM to save yourselves from such ignorant misapprehensions in future," Sifuna responded.
He further noted that the matter was an internal process between a party and its membership and as such, they "shall not be admitting strangers to any of the internal deliberations on the matter."
Earlier on Tuesday, Murkomen filed a petition on behalf of Jumwa and Dori stating that the association of the politicians with DP William Ruto was only manifested as part of the Building Bridges Initiative and not an attempt at insubordination.
“Honourable members Jumwa and Dori are aware of ODM's position to work with and support government initiatives under Building Bridges Initiative. Any association in this line including interaction with Deputy President is in conformation to this initiative. It is also an exercise of freedom association," part of the petition by Murkomen read.
