Nairobi Man Detained After Wife Found Dead in City Lodging

Emmanuel Owuor is in police custody as the primary suspect in the death of his estranged wife, who was found dead in a city lodging.

Owuor is suspected to have murdered Grace Adhiambo on Friday. The two had separated after having problems in their marriage and were believed to be reconciling. .

Speaking in court when the suspect was arraigned, the investigation officer Joseph Wanjohi indicated that Owuor booked a room at GNK Hamza Hotel Lodge along Jogoo Road on February 7 and invited Adhiambo to meet him there.

The lady agreed and soon checked into the facility but she didn't leave.

According to the police, the man allegedly ran away as soon as he was certain the woman had died.

When presenting part of his evidence in court, Wanjohi indicated that police managed to apprehend the suspect on Friday.

Appearing before Makadara Law Court Chief Magistrate Heston Nyaga, Owuor pleaded to be released claiming that his wife collapsed in the room due to hypertension.

He pleaded with the court stating, “Please release me because I’m hurting too. My wife is dead. I did not kill her because she had hypertension and she just collapsed in the room.”

The suspect was remanded for eight days at Buru Buru Police Station pending investigations. The case will be mentioned on February 22.

This comes at a time when Kenyans are still coming to terms with details of yet another case of a woman found dead in unclear circumstances after having issues with the husband and his other lover.
