How Police Outsmarted Nairobi's Top Drug Dealer Despite Tip-Off Over Raid

Regarded as Nairobi's top drug dealer, Simon Kariuki Wangeci alias Tony, was nabbed on Friday when police raided his home in Githurai 44.

Surprisingly, Kariuki told detectives that he had been tipped off over the planned operation in his palatial home.

Speaking to the media, Kasarani DCIO Mwenda Meme disclosed that the dealer had received intel of the raid by the sleuths.

Police conducted the raid two days earlier than the date the drug dealer expected the police to disrupt his business which he had been running for the past ten years.

“We were shocked when he informed us that he was aware of our plan to raid his house and that the only thing he did not know was when.

“We have recovered a large amount of money inside his car which we believe to be proceeds of the drug business,” Mwenda told the Nation.

Bhang worth an estimated street value of Ksh10 Million was confiscated during the raid, with police revealing that they had recovered an undisclosed amount of cash at the premises as well.

Reports revealed that 'Tony' was ranked among the top-most marijuana suppliers across the counties with his highly organized network rumoured to traverse both Nairobi and Kiambu in their entirety.

After he was caught, Kariuki pleaded with the detectives to release his workers as they were not part of his illegal business.

Officers are also planning to raid his other homes in search of more evidence.
