President Uhuru Kenyatta, on Monday, made a major shake-up on Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) rankings besides extending the term of General Samson Mwathethe as Chief of Defence Forces by a year.
According to a report by Daily Nation, some 21 officials in the military were promoted to bigger responsibilities while others were appointed to join the forces.
Mwathethe’s term as the country’s top soldier ended last month.
Below is a list of the 21 officials who were promoted.
1. Brigadier Joseph Mutui Kivunzi - promoted to major-general and is in charge of the Western Command.
2. Brigadier Jonah Maina Mwangi - promoted to major general and the assistant chief of Defence Forces, Operations and Training.
3. Brigadier Albert Kiprop Kendagor - promoted to major general in charge of Kenya Military Academy.
4. Brigadier George Kiguta Ng'ang'a - promoted to major general and director of Medical Services.
5. Brigadier Mohamed Abdalla Badi - promoted to major general and senior directing Staff Air of National Defence College.
6. Brigadier Martin Kizito Ong'ovi - promoted to major general in charge of Defence Staff College.
7. Brigadier Said Mohamed Farah - promoted to major general and director of Military intelligence.
8. Col Paul Kahuria Njema - promoted to Brigadier and commander of six brigade.
9. Col Abdullahi Gure Rashid - promoted to Brigadier and chief of Training Defence Headquarters.
10. Col Stephen James Mutuku - promoted to Brigadier and chief of operations of the Defence headquarters.
11. Col Dixon Mwangiri Chivatsi - promoted to Brigadier and chief of personnel of the Defence Headquarters.
12. Col Juma Shi Mwinyikai - promoted to Brigadier in charge of Armoured Brigade.
13. Col Willy Sidwaka Wesonga - promoted to Brigadier and chief provost of the Defence Headquarters.
14. Col David Kimaiyo Tarus - promoted to Brigadier in charge of the Artillery Brigade.
15. Col Stephen Otieno Radina - promoted to Brigadier in charge of Engineers Brigade.
16. Col James Nderitu Githaga - promoted to Brigadier in charge of Kahawa Garrison
17. Col Daniel Omondi Odeny - promoted to Brigadier and is the chief of Legal Defence.
18. Col Joseph Kamau Mburu - promoted to Brigadier and is the director of Defence Forces Medical Insurance Scheme.
19. Col Ibrahim Khamisi Omari - promoted to Brigadier and is the chief of Inspectorate Defence.
20. Col Jimson Longiro Gitai - promoted to Brigadier in charge of Kenya Navy Base in Mutongwe.
21. Col David Kipkemboi - promoted to Brigadier and is the Chief of Logistics at the Kenya Army Headquarters.
