Sonko Flies Out Ailing 8-Year-Old for Treatment

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko once again came through for a person in need when he announced that he will be airlifting Haimanah Wairimu to India.

The eight-year-old girl had been diagnosed with Metastatic Thyroid Carcinoma ( a form of thyroid cancer) and had been appealing for assistance after she was referred to the Asian nation for further treatment.

Haimanah, who is from Komarok area in Embakasi Central Constituency, caught the eye of the philanthropic governor through Facebook.

Through his Facebook page, Sonko informed the public of his move by posting a video of them at the airport.

“We are airlifting baby Haimanah Wairimu who is 8-years-old from Komarok area in Embakasi Central Constituency to India for further treatment. Wairimu had been diagnosed with Metastatic Thyroid Carcinoma. Blessed is the hand that giveth,” Sonko wrote.

Sonko used his philanthropic group Sonko Rescue Team's ambulance to transport the young girl to JKIA on Wednesday morning in anticipation for her flight.

According to the Facebook page, ‘I STAND WITH BABY HAIMANAH’ by May 9, 2019, they had been able to raise Ksh1,005,813 through a pay bill number.

This was added to the Ksh450,000 that the family had at hand bringing the total amount to Ksh1,455,813 against the required Ksh5 million.

In a bold step of faith, Haimanah’s mother had moved to apply for her passport at Nyayo house on April 29 in anticipation that Kenyans would help her daughter and assist her to get the treatment she required.
