Woman Tearfully Narrates How Son Was Brutally Butchered on His Birthday

A woman whose son was brutally butchered on his birthday by a gang in Matungu constituency has finally broken her silence about how horrific the incident was.

In an interview with the Daily Nation, Miriam Kaluki revealed that she had left for the mosque on the fateful day only to return to a crowd in her home.

In the tearful tale, the mother reminisced how less than 24 hours before the brutal murder, her son, Malik Wamukoya Murunga, had gallantly confided in her about how he was not scared by death not knowing that was what would befall him.

He was murdered on the day he was supposed to be celebrating his birthday.

“On the eve of the attack, my son had told me that he was not scared of death since he was at peace with God,” narrated Kaluki.

It all began when Murunga reportedly went missing. The neighbours disclosed that they were drawn to a house next to the boy's home after they heard faint mourns but on reaching the scene, they did not spot any blood.

They suspected that the heinous act must have been carried out elsewhere and his body dumped inside their unfinished house.

The boy was stabbed severally in the abdomen to an extent his insides were popping out of his belly and there was a wound on his neck.

Murunga was killed on Sunday, May 19, bringing a total of deaths as a result of the deadly gang's strike to 21.

The victim was born in the area and was a Standard one pupil at Bulimbo Star Academy in Matungu.

The murder happened even after 100 General Service Unit (GSU) officers were deployed in the area with the sole purpose of kicking out the gang members.
