Manhunt Launched for Govt Officials Who Grabbed KBC Land

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched a manhunt for senior government officials and politicians who grabbed land belonging to national broadcaster Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC).

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke on phone, the Government Spokesperson Colonel (Rtd) Cyrus Oguna revealed that serving and retired senior police officers, officers from the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National government, Ministry of Lands and prominent local politicians are suspected to be the land grabbers.

Earlier on in his weekly press briefing Thursday, the government spokesperson also stated that the parcel of land measures about 499.5 hectares.

It is located along the Nairobi-Kangundo road.

According to Oguna, KBC bought the land in 1980.

The land contains equipment estimated at hundreds of millions of shillings and was fraudulently acquired by Komarock Ranching and Farmers Co-op.

Within the land lies Studio Mashinani, a government project aimed at empowering the youth.

Oguna alarmed the public to be on alert and wary of the conniving on suspects who fraudulently attempted to sell the piece of land.

The suspects are said to have subdivided the land into 612 plots so as to sell them easily.

He, however, declined to reveal the names of the alleged government officials, pointing the fact that such a move would hamper the investigations.
