Kenyan Man Breaks Into Chinese House & Steals Safe Full of Cash

A Kenyan thug took his trade onto a whole new level after he broke into a Chinese national's house and made away with an entire safe full of cash.

The man, identified as Laban Leonard Okwacha, reportedly broke into a house belonging to Zhou Lin in Kizingo, Mombasa, and went straight for the safe and jewelry.

In the safe was a sum of Ksh1.7 million,  $1, 000 (Ksh102, 000) and 20, 000 Chinese Yuan (Ksh297, 000). The total value of his loot was estimated at Ksh2.23 million.

Appearing before a magistrate at a Mombasa Court, however, Okwacha pleaded not guilty to all the accusations.

He was subsequently released on a bond of Ksh1 million and a surety of a similar amount.

Okwacha's accomplice failed to appear in court for plea taking and his identity was not revealed.

The case is set for hearing on June 27 this year.

In January this year, Zhang Shaowei, manager of China International Cooperation Company Limited, was charged with soil theft in a Kisii court.

He was accused of stealing the soil in Wanjare, Kisii County between July 6, 2018, and August 20, 2018, on a parcel of Land registered to Enock Onchangwa.

He was also charged with unlawful damage of Onchangwa’s property and making two false lease agreements for the land in question.
