Kimani Ichung'wa Reveals Secrets of Topping Latest MPs Rankings

Kikuyu  MP, Kimani Ichung'wa has been ranked as the most active and highest contributor in the parliament for the period between September 2017 and December 2018.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, the jovial legislator shared the tips that led to his top spot. When asked what was the secret that made him be the best legislator, he had a very simple answer.

"I simply do what I was elected to do." Ichung'wa replied with ease.

The central MP however delved deeper to add more details to his rather amusing answer.

He stated that he always ensured that he continuously carried out his roles meticulously ever since he was elected into office. Ichung'wa still remains to be the only MP who was elected in the 2017 general elections unopposed.

"As a legislator, I have been entrusted with three roles.To represent, to legislate and to oversee." he added.

He went on to explain each of the three roles and how he executes them resolutely.

Mr Ichung'wa stated that he always represented his people in the National Assembly by constantly tabling their needs before the House.

He revealed that he had taken the role of not just championing the rights of his constituents but also used his position as an MP to push for issues of fiscal and social accountability affecting all Kenyans.

The best ranked legislator went on to explain that he carried out his oversight responsibilities diligently and has kept the government on its toes to fulfill promises made to Kenyans.

Kandara MP, Alice Wahome was also ranked among the highest contributors having spoken 84 times in the National Assembly.

She also shared a few pillars underpinning her stellar performance with Kenyans.co.ke

"One has to be very strategic about business that come to the House. You also have to know how to get the attention of the Speaker to be be given a chance to floor your ideas and move motions." Alice conveyed.

She added that keeping time during session days in the parliament also gave her time to be able to arrange her ideas and present them to the Speaker in an orderly manner.

The report was tabled by Mzalendo Trust which ranked legislators based on their contributions on the floor of the House for the period between September 2017 and December 2018.
