Kakamega Twins to Join Prestigious Schools

The three girls who have been making headlines following their switched-at-birth story have secured places at leading schools following the intervention of Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya.

A report by People Daily indicated that Sharon Mitekwa will join Butere Girls' High School, Melvis Imbayi proceeds to St. Mary's Mumias while Melon Lutenyo got a slot at Bishop Sulumeti Girls.

The county government will also sponsor the girls' education and facilitate their admission into their respective schools.

Oparanya asked them to pick their admission letters in their respective schools.

He also asked the County Education officer to contact the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) and inform them of the girls' decision to skip the 2019 national examinations.

MelonSharon their 'sister' Melvis, who were in different schools, opted to go back to Form Three, fearing that the turn might negatively affect their performance.

On Monday, the three girls accompanied by the twins' father Wilson Lutah Kongoni Girls Secondary School but they were turned away.

The principal did so on grounds that the trio, who had been accompanied by their mothers Angeline Omino and Rosemary Onyango, would distract the rest of the students.

Luttah had earlier complained of the trio's behaviour claiming that they are holding the parents at ransom and turning the situation into a circus.

“This is a circus. They want to herd us like sheep. We were supposed to take them back to their respective schools on Monday but they came up with that weird demand that they want to be in one school so I urged them to proceed,” he complained.
